What engraves
Leather and most imitation leather.
- Genuine leather
- Top-grain, cowhide and goatskin covers mark cleanly. The laser darkens the leather, so the name reads like it came from the publisher.
- Imitation leather
- Most covers sold as LeatherSoft, LeatherTouch, TruTone and similar names engrave well. A few are vinyl, which can't go on a laser, so send us the exact Bible and we check it first.
- Colour
- Brown, tan and burgundy show the most contrast. Black gives a subtle tone-on-tone mark that many people prefer.
- Where it goes
- The front cover, usually the lower right corner, as a name, initials or a short line. A verse or a date under the name is fine.

Questions
Bible engraving, answered.
- How much does it cost to engrave a name on a Bible?
- $5 per Bible for a name on the front cover, with a $25 minimum order, so up to 5 Bibles is $25. You supply the Bibles. If you'd rather we supply a zippered leatherette Bible cover with the name engraved, that starts at $26.00.
- How long does Bible engraving take?
- 3 - 5 business days after the Bibles reach us. For a date like a graduation or a team event, tell us when you need them and we plan around it.
- Can every Bible in a group have a different name?
- Yes. That's the usual order: send a typed list with one name per line and each Bible gets its own name, at the same price per Bible.
- What Bible covers can be laser engraved?
- Genuine leather and most imitation leather (polyurethane) covers engrave well. Some covers are vinyl, which can't be lasered safely, so we check the exact Bible before we start.
- Is laser engraving the same as gold foil embossing?
- No. Embossing presses foil into the cover. A laser darkens the leather itself, so there's no foil to flake off. It looks closer to a debossed, tone-on-tone mark.
- Will I see it before you engrave my Bibles?
- Yes. We send mockups so you can choose a design, then a proof of the final layout. Nothing is engraved until you approve it.
- Where are you, and can I drop the Bibles off?
- We're in Mableton, in metro Atlanta. The shop isn't open to visitors, so we meet at a convenient public spot to collect and return Bibles, or you can ship them to us and we ship them back.
